The DC Peace Team is made up of members from key partner organizations along with other expert trainers and community members concerned with making the DC metro area a more nonviolent and just community.
Partner organizations commit to 1) sharing skills, resources, and recruitment; as well as 2) helping to scale-up the practice of unarmed civilian protection.
Core partners include:
DC Alliance for Restorative Practices focuses on raising awareness around, advocating for, and supporting the integration of evidence-based restorative practices in DC’s justice and dependency systems, schools, and community based youth-serving organizations to foster community and more effectively address the impacts of harm.
Community Mediation DC (CMDC) provides free mediation to all DC residents and teaches conflict resolution skills to neighbors, organizations, families, schools and community members across the city. We rely on highly skilled volunteer mediators, trained for free in exchange for volunteer hours, who reflect the diversity of the community we serve, and hold mediation in the neighborhoods where disputes occur. Call 240-766-5311 to request mediation.
Partnerships with Other Peace Teams
In 2012, the DC Peace Team joined the Shanti Sena Network of domestic peace teams in order to more effectively build relationships, exchange information about local realities, and share training resources and assessment tools.
