Family Engagement in Peace Education Workbook

Children play a crucial role in creating social change and a better future for all. The “Family Engagement in Peace Education” workbook encourages children to investigate the role that conflict plays in themselves, their community, and world. Throughout this exploration, activities are designed to pique a child’s curiosity in peaceful living and the role that nonviolent peacemaking can play in transforming conflict.

In 2016 we worked with partners at the Walker Jones Elementary School facilitating peace education programs.

In 2012-2013, the DC Peace Team worked with an established National Homecomers Academy program at Aiton Elementary, located in northeast DC. The program focused on a group of fourth-fifth graders. Over a ten week span, the DCPT offered weekly peace education activities with our partners and introductions to restorative justice.

DCPT has hosted multiple screenings of the film The Interrupters, a documentary about the unarmed civilian peacekeeping work of Cure Violence in the streets of Chicago.
